Pests in Michigan tend to become hyperactive during spring. And as we begin to see a rise in temperatures, these annoying invaders start to gear up to wreak havoc in various homes.  Your property is more often than not the starting point for these summer pests. That’s because they can get an abundant supply of food and water while enjoying the protection that comes from sharing your home with you.  In this piece, we’ll highlight some of the common house pests in Michigan that every homeowner must be wary of.

Ticks

Ticks are known to be active from the month of April through September, and you’ll find more than 30 tick species in Michigan. The American dog tick is one of the most common and usually begins its activities from May up until July. Another species known to cause Lyme disease is the black-legged tick that puts you at risk of irregular heart rhythm, joint swelling, meningitis, etc. This pest is also notorious for being a transmitter of ehrlichiosis, tularemia, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes seem to have become so prevalent that Michigan residents no longer take them seriously. It’s easy to forget how harmful they can be if they invade your property. In recent years, Michigan has had to deal with lots of mosquitoes. Mosquito bites can easily progress from a simple, insignificant itch to more serious sicknesses like Zika Virus and West Nile Virus. The mosquitoes that transmit these illnesses are always active, so it’s necessary to protect your home from a mosquito invasion.

Bed Bugs

There are many different ways through which bed bugs can make an entrance into your home. They mostly do so by attaching themselves to your clothes whenever you visit a bug-infested place. Bed bugs can also get into your home by living on furniture that you eventually purchase. To be more specific, bed bugs can get into any home by attaching themselves to bags, bedding, clothing, etc., where they eventually go on a breeding spree. You don’t want to suffer bites from these tough species because that could trigger some unpleasant symptoms. So you’re better off putting preventive measures in place to keep them out for good

House flies

House flies start reproducing towards the end of spring and their activities increase significantly during the summer months. Female adults can lay more than 100 eggs in suitable food sources like garbage. As the temperature rises, the eggs start to hatch at a very fast rate and could need just a couple of hours to do so after they are laid. The hot weather also contributes to their growth as they go through different developmental stages. Anywhere from 7 to 10 days is enough for them to complete their life cycle. So having a problem with house flies in your home is most likely an indication that they’ve made it their breeding ground.

They responded within less than an hour of my leaving a voicemail. Then, they were at our house within 4 hours. They assessed the situation, inspected, and took steps to take care of the problem. He also provided us with some suggestions as to keep from having issues in the future.

It went great. No more wasps after 48 hrs. And it took only 15 minutes to apply the treatment. The man that came (I forgot his name but I believe it's a small family business) was very serious and knowledgeable. Also he was the first one to respond and be able to show up after I contacted 4 or 5 different pest exterminators.
